Our story
This story began when I woke up one night, only to find my mother stitching dresses for me and my sisters’ school party at 3 AM. From that moment on, I realized just how passionate she was about designing and sewing our clothes with her own hands. My sisters and I wore her beautifully designed clothes to every special occasion, be it Eid, School parties, weddings, or ANY BIG EVENT, and we loved it! We always got tons of compliments because she was just SO good at stitching.
Then, in 2002, our world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with cancer. We were devastated, but Mumma? She was full of strength and positivity, MashAllah! Her willpower triumphed over cancer, and despite enduring immense pain, she beat it. Things finally started looking up, and we all found healing. Life once again revolved around wearing her designed clothes and seeing her in her happy place – stitching. 🧵
But in 2012, our worst nightmare became a reality when the cancer returned, this time at stage 4. We watched as she gradually let go of all her favorite things. We saw her growing weaker day by day, her body losing all its strength. She endured this pain for years. She stopped talking, and we didn’t hear her voice for almost a year. Then, on March 20, 2014, she left us. She passed away peacefully in our arms as we siblings fed her… just like that, she was gone.
Since that day, I have dreamed of starting a clothing line in honor of my amma, my jaan. Unfortunately, life’s challenges delayed this dream, but ALHAMDULLILAH, I am finally launching this line, “Guddo by DTM,” for my amma. All the family members used to call her Guddo with so much love, so this is for you, my Guddo. I hope this initiative makes you proud and that people love it. I hope to make my customers as happy as you made your daughters with all your beautiful designs. Here’s to you, my amma. ❤️
